Flame Resistant Clothing

Steve Mata, Regional Manager - TX Gulf Coast, LA, DuPont Personal Protection

Expo A1

Flame resistant clothing is a commonplace throughout the Texas and Louisiana Chemical Industry and as such can easily have its merits and limitations taken for granted. This presentation provides a grounding on NFPA 2112 and NFPA 2113. The session will help to understand the science behind different flame-resistant fabrics and how that may affect their performance. Attendees will understand how body burn percentage corelates to a person’s chance of survival and how duration and intensity of the fire corelates to total body burn. Recognize how improper care and maintenance of your FR garments can compromise protection. Dual hazards are also a frequent occurrence in the Chemical Industry and as such present an added challenge. Finally, learn about NFPA2112’s recent addition to include hand protection with FR Gloves.
