Urgency Overlap and its Effect on Occupational Safety

Richard Saizan, Consultant, Occupational Safety, Training and Organizational Development

Expo A2

Urgency is ubiquitous in corporate America. In this presentation, we will show how a high degree of urgency may be appropriate for certain corporate functions but, regarding other corporate functions related to safety, it becomes an inappropriate sense urgency that can lead to accidents.

We will explain the relationship between urgency and importance, identify some of the drivers of an inappropriate sense of urgency, discuss how an inappropriate sense urgency can be managed, and how to observe urgency.
