ABOUT RICHARD
Lieutenant Rick Meehan is a 20-year veteran of the Harris County Hazardous Materials Team and has served as a firefighter since 1999 and a police officer since 2009. He provides instruction in hazardous materials response and incident management nationwide and is recognized for his commitment to developing effective, analytical approaches to complex operational challenges.
In his leadership role with the Harris County HazMat Team, Lieutenant Meehan has responded to and coordinated numerous complex hazardous materials incidents throughout the Houston area, bringing extensive field experience and strategic oversight to emergency response operations. He proudly describes himself as a “hazmat nerd,” though the considerable time he spends immersed in software and gadgets suggests he has fully evolved into a “hazmat geek” a distinction he firmly believes is a professional advantage.
